What does the ACORD 127 Business Auto Section collect?
Published 2026-10-18 by Insurance City Agency, LLC, CA Lic #6003045. Reviewed by Santo Militello, California-licensed Property & Casualty agent (CA License #1737723). Our licensed team brings more than 70 years of combined insurance experience.
The ACORD 127 is the Business Auto Section. A business auto section is the page where the drivers, the vehicles, the use, the radius, the garaging, and the coverages sit next to the applicant. It pairs with the ACORD 125. It does not replace that application, a state supplement, or a standalone vehicle schedule. ACORD's forms index, checked October 18, 2026, lists the current countrywide edition as 2015/12 and titles it Business Auto Section. Call (209) 670-1556. The Stockton office is 956 W Robinhood Dr.

What facts does the business auto section need?
The public index names ACORD 127 and does not print the boxes. When we complete this section, the underwriter is waiting on the driver list, the vehicle schedule, use, radius, garaging, and the coverages and symbols being requested. If a label on the carrier's edition differs, ask us which supplement that carrier wants.
The driver list is each person the business wants on the account: legal name, date of birth, driver license number, and license state. The vehicle schedule is each unit the business owns or wants scheduled: year, make, model, vehicle identification number, and the gross vehicle weight the owner can show, usually from the door label or the registration. Use says what the unit does. Radius says how far it usually travels from the garage. Garaging is the address where the unit actually stays at night, not a mailbox. Coverage lines and symbols are how the section points a coverage at owned autos, hired autos, or non-owned autos. The index does not reproduce a symbol legend, so this page does not invent one. The same index titles ACORD 163 (2012/06) Commercial Auto Driver Information Schedule, a different form number for an extra driver list when the section runs out of rows.
How does it pair with the ACORD 125?
The ACORD 125 is the applicant page. The forms index titles ACORD 125 (2025/03) Commercial Insurance Application, Applicant Information Section. That page names the applicant, the business, and the prior carriers. The ACORD 127 is the auto section beside it. Neither page replaces the other.
The applicant walkthrough is the ACORD 125 page. The index also lists ACORD 125 CA (2023/01). Limits stay on California commercial auto requirements, and the coverage page is commercial auto insurance. This page does not reprint those limits.
How is it different from a state supplement or a vehicle schedule?
ACORD 127, ACORD 129, and ACORD 137 are different numbers on the forms index. ACORD 129 (2009/11) is titled Vehicle Schedule. California's supplement is ACORD 137 CA (2023/01), California Commercial Auto. A state form and a vehicle schedule are not the Business Auto Section. Ask us which supplement the carrier wants.
The forms index is the source for those titles. It does not describe the boxes inside each supplement. A carrier can ask for a different edition than the one marked current.
Which fields come back wrong?
The misses we send back most often are the garaging address, driver dates of birth and license numbers, the radius, and a schedule of owned units that stays silent on hired or non-owned use. That is what this office sees. It is not a published study.
- Garaging address. The owner's house is listed when the truck sleeps at a yard, or a post-office box is listed when the unit never parks there.
- Driver dates of birth and license numbers. A row is blank, or the list still names a driver who left, or the license number belongs to a different state than the one written beside it.
- Radius. The word "local" is written when the truck runs to jobs well outside that city. The number has to match the trips the business actually runs.
- Owned versus hired or non-owned. The owned trucks are listed. The rented units, and the employees who drive their own cars for the business, are left off. That hired and non-owned question is explained on hired and non-owned auto. Leaving it blank is still an answer.
How does an underwriter read the section?
The underwriter reads the driver list, often with a motor vehicle report, the radius against the garaging address, and the vehicle class and gross vehicle weight. A short radius does not describe a truck that stays out all week. A market can still decline. This page does not promise a policy.
Take gross vehicle weight from the door label the owner has. The forms index does not define that figure. For-hire or interstate limit questions stay on the requirements page.
Which form is which?
Match the form number to the job. The titles and editions below are the ones printed in ACORD's forms index, checked October 18, 2026. A carrier can still ask for a different supplement. Ask us which one that carrier wants before the file goes out.
| Form | Index title | Edition on the index | What it is for |
|---|---|---|---|
| ACORD 125 | Commercial Insurance Application, Applicant Information Section | 2025/03 | Who is applying, the business, and the prior carriers |
| ACORD 127 | Business Auto Section | 2015/12 | The business auto section that pairs with the 125 |
| ACORD 129 | Vehicle Schedule | 2009/11 | A vehicle schedule under its own form number |
| ACORD 137 CA | California Commercial Auto | 2023/01 | The California commercial auto supplement, not the 127 |
How do you complete the section?
Bring the driver list and the vehicle schedule before anyone prices the account. A blank driver row is not a finished section. A market can decline after it reads the list. Nothing on this page promises that a policy will be offered.
- Start with the ACORD 125 so the applicant and the business are named. Use our ACORD 125 note for that page.
- List every driver: legal name, date of birth, license number, and license state. Drop anyone who no longer drives for the business.
- List every owned unit: year, make, model, vehicle identification number, gross vehicle weight, the real garaging address, the use, and the radius.
- Say whether the business rents vehicles or has people driving their own cars for work. That is the hired and non-owned question.
- Ask us which supplement the carrier wants. In California the index lists ACORD 137 CA (2023/01), California Commercial Auto. Confirm it before it is attached.
- Call (209) 670-1556 or use the contact form. The Spanish note is ACORD 127 en español.
